Our board-certified ostomy specialist will make the transition from pre-op to post-op to home as smooth as possible with your new ostomy. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is an advanced treatment that delivers oxygen at higher-than-normal pressure to enhance the body's natural healing process. During treatment, the patient breathes 100 percent oxygen while relaxing comfortably in a pressurized chamber.
HBOT helps wounds heal in several powerful ways:

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a referral required?
Some insurance companies require a referral from your primary care provider or the surgeon if it is a surgical wound. Call us first and we will be able to tell you if a referral is needed or if we can schedule an appointment without a referral.
What can I expect at the first appointment?
You will need to present your insurance card and a form of identification when you arrive. You will be taken to an exam room where you will help provide a complete medical, surgical, and wound history. You will need your medication and allergy list. The wound or ostomy will be measured and photographed. The provider will do a complete wound or ostomy assessment. An individualized plan of care will be created based on your needs and to obtain the best outcome. Any additional testing will be discussed and scheduled if needed. Education will be provided on wound cleansing, dressing application, and frequency of dressing changes. If home health is needed, we can assist with arranging that. If you will need to come to the clinic for dressing changes, those will be scheduled. Arrangements will be made for dressing supplies to be used at home. A return visit will be scheduled prior to your leaving.
Who will I see when I visit?
Who you see will be determined by the type of appointment you have. You will always have a FCHC Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center nurse. You may see Dr. Attar, FCHC podiatrist or Kathy Khandaker FCHC Wound, Ostomy and Continence Certified Nurse Practitioner. You will know who you are seeing when your appointment is scheduled.
How long will it take to heal my wound?
Wound healing is an individual process that is based on the age of the wound, age of the individual, chronic health conditions, current state of the wound, presence of infection, and the cause of the wound. Everyone heals at different rates but after the first visit we may be able to give you an idea of how long it will take to heal your wound.
Will my insurance cover treatment?
Our staff will make sure we are contracted with your insurance when the appointment is scheduled. We will also verify eligibility and check if prior authorizations are needed. Every insurance is different and their policies change often. You are encouraged to check with your insurance carrier for coverage.
