Our Orthopedics Team
Dr. Daniel McKernan is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with more than 30 years of experience caring for patients throughout Northwest Ohio. He earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh, followed by a Sports Medicine Fellowship at The Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Since joining FCHC Orthopedics in 1995, Dr. McKernan has developed a reputation for excellence in orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, and joint replacement procedures. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is an active member of several professional organizations dedicated to advancing orthopedic care.
Dr. McKernan is passionate about helping patients restore function, reduce pain, and return to the activities they love. His extensive experience, combined with a commitment to innovation and patient-centered care, has made him a trusted orthopedic specialist in the region for decades.
Dr. Kirk Davis is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, joint replacement, and advanced orthopedic procedures. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed residency training through OhioHealth Doctors Hospital in Columbus, followed by a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Hughston Clinic, one of the nation’s leading orthopedic training programs.

Do I need a referral to see an orthopedic surgeon?
No, you do not need a referral unless your insurance provider requires one. Many people come to us after their primary care provider recommends orthopedic care during a routine visit, but you are also welcome to contact us directly.
How quickly can I be seen for a fracture?
If you suspect a fracture, you are evaluated and treated on an individual basis: type of fracture, location, mobility and if initial urgent/emergent treatment. Typical timeframe is same day to one week.
What is recovery like after a joint replacement?
After joint replacement, patients gradually regain mobility, reduce pain, and restore function through structured rehabilitation.
Do I need a separate referral for physical therapy?
