Fulton County Health Center offers a full range of therapy services to inpatients during their hospital stay. Physical, occupational, and speech therapists work directly with patients at bedside, helping them rebuild strength, restore daily function, and prepare for discharge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is inpatient rehab covered by my insurance?

The short answer is “yes, most of the time”, but as with any other medical procedure it will largely be dependent on your insurance coverage. The discharge planning staff at FCHC does an excellent job of recognizing the limitations and communicating that to the Providers and the patients we serve.

How is inpatient therapy ordered during my stay?

This is all driven by the Doctor / Provider. If you are admitted for an illness or a surgery, your Provider will determine if that condition requires the needs of the Rehab Team. Often, if there are questions or concerns about your ability to safely return home, Rehab will be ordered to assess that. If you feel that you may benefit from Rehab during your stay, feel free to discuss that with your Doctor and Nurse.

How often will I have therapy sessions?

This will depend on your Therapy evaluation, and the recommendations of the Therapist(s). It could be 1-2 sessions per day, per discipline, again depending on your specific noted needs.

What are the next steps / options for Therapy if I am unable to go home from the Hospital?

The Therapy Team and Discharge Planning offices work together and will keep you involved in the potential decisions for the next level of care. That may be asking for your top choices on Rehab Facilities to consider, if needed. The decision comes down to insurance coverage, and the availability of the Facility.

Can I receive outpatient therapy after being discharged?

Yes, this is something that may be a sought-out option after being discharged home depending on the recommendations of the Doctor/Provider and Therapy teams.
