Frequently Asked Questions

No. You do not need a referral unless your insurance provider requires one. Many people come to us after their primary care provider recommends counseling during a routine visit, but you are also welcome to contact us directly.

During your free initial consultation, you will meet with an experienced licensed social worker who will listen, gather helpful information, and work with you to determine the level of care that best fits your needs. Consultations are typically held in person, but phone appointments may also be available.

At your initial consultation, we will collect your insurance information and help verify whether we are in network with your plan. We accept most major insurance plans, as well as Medicare and Medicaid.

Yes. Your privacy is important to us. In general, the information you share will not be disclosed to anyone who is not directly involved in your care, unless there is a serious legal or safety reason to do so.

There are a few situations where we are required by law to share information with the appropriate outside agencies, including:

  1. Known or suspected child abuse or neglect, or abuse or neglect of an older adult
  2. A serious and immediate risk of suicide
  3. An immediate danger to another person
  4. Knowledge that a felony has been or is being committed
  5. Information requested by a judge through a court order

If you would like us to share information in other situations, we will ask you to sign an authorization form first.

Traditional outpatient services are usually scheduled weekly to monthly, depending on your needs. These one-on-one sessions give you time to meet individually with your therapist.

Intensive Outpatient sessions are held Monday through Thursday from noon to 3:00 p.m. This program includes individual therapy, group sessions, and medication management with experienced social workers and a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. It provides a higher level of support for people with more significant mental health needs and may help avoid an inpatient hospital stay.
